All beers from Half Moon Brewery are crafted in the traditional way, using the finest quality malts from Thomas Fawcett & Son Ltd of Castleford and a variety of U.K. and overseas hops sourced from Charles Faram and Co Ltd of Malvern. Jo Menneer looks after the beer sampling and produces our tasting notes.
Beers currently available are:-
Extra Strong English Bitter, with a complex hoppy finish. Admiral, Challenger and Taiheke hops are combined with quality English malts to give this high strength ale zesty bitterness, fruity aroma and a malt character packed with flavour.
A double IPA, strong and hoppy.
A classic English pale ale, moderately bittered with sweet undertones. Full bodied with a thirst quenching fruity finish. Brewed to celebrate Beer Day Britain on the 15th June 2017.
Session mini IPA, with fresh citrus flavours, packed with fruity hops packing a bold hoppy finish.
A bright blonde ale with a mellow bitterness from the early Northdown hops and an easy malt character, leading into a big hoppy fruit finish from the late hopping with copious amounts of Olicana, Chinook and Jester.
A bright golden ale with a refreshing hit of mango, grapefruit, passionfruit and melon from the festive hop fruitiness of Centennial, Olicana, Huell and Taiheke. Followed up with a subtle floral aroma from the late additions of Willamette.
A pale golden ale, with fine malt flavours, an intense punchy aroma and flavours of grapefruit and tropical fruits.
A refreshing golden IPA with full, well rounded flavours. Fine malts flavour and hints of caramel followed by a floral hop aftertaste.
A light golden summer session bitter, with crisp malt character, good clean bitterness and a smooth fruity aromatic finish. A most quaffable ale to brighten up an English summer.
A classic English porter dark in colour and soft on the palate. The combination of malts provide complex coffee, liquorice & chocolate notes, resulting in a rich flavour wrapped in a silky smooth finish.
A hoppy IPA, deep gold in colour and a strong bitter finish.
Premium British mild. Complex fruity aroma of ripe banana, pineapple and caramel. A balanced flavour showcasing toasty vanilla/biscuit notes and lovely fresh hops.
Deep gold oatmeal bitter with a rounded fruity flavour. Late hopped with Bramling Cross for extra depth and bitterness.
Dark copper premium bitter, well balanced malt flavours, complimented with a rich rounded crisp bitterness.
A light coloured ale, hoppy with gooseberry and grapefruit flavours and a crisp finish
A collaboration with Brass Castle Brewery, it’s a black lager, with berry fruit and pine aromas, from the addition of Centennial, Simcoe and Galena hops. There is a full malty lager backbone to the flavour, rounded-off with a gentle roastiness and crisp bitter hop bite in the aftertaste.
American style pale ale, dry hopped with Comet to give a lemon and spice aroma.
A hoppy pale ale
A bright blonde ale, single hopped with Azzaca to give a pleasing, fruity full bodied bitterness. £10 from every cask was donated to the Royal British Legion in memory of all soldiers who fought and died at Gallipoli in 1915.
